Fix S/PDIF Optical Audio Cutoff & TOSLINK Clock Drops

Stop Yamaha receivers, Edifier speakers, and DACs from dropping Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) clock lock over optical TOSLINK connections.

Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) Optical Clock Unlock

Optical TOSLINK and S/PDIF coaxial connections encode the master audio sampling clock directly inside the biphase mark optical signal stream. When no sound is playing on Windows, audio drivers (like Realtek HD Audio) shut off the TOSLINK LED transmitter to reduce power.

Without light pulses arriving over the fiber optic cable, the receiver's internal **Phase-Locked Loop (PLL)** loses clock lock completely. When a sound starts, the receiver takes **500ms to 1,500ms** to re-acquire sample rate synchronization (44.1kHz / 48kHz), clipping off the initial sound.

Common S/PDIF & TOSLINK Equipment

Yamaha AV Receivers

YAS-209, RX-V series, MusicCast BAR 400. Prevents optical input sensing re-lock lag.

Edifier Active Speakers

R1280DB, S350DB, S1000MKII. Keeps optical input continuously active without sleeping.

Realtek Onboard Optical

ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI ALC1220/ALC897 S/PDIF Out ports. Stops transmitter LED shutoff.

Bose & DAC Optical Inputs

Bose Solo 5 & Schiit/Topping optical inputs. Prevents PLL unlock across silent gaps.

Maintain Continuous Optical Clock Sync

SpeakerKeepAlive maintains an uninterrupted optical biphase mark light stream, ensuring your receiver's PLL clock remains 100% locked.
